Outdoor Museum

We are in the process of developing our outdoor  “equipment” museum.  Items to be  displayed will be  vintage logging, mill and ranching equipment. Many items have already been placed on the site. We have asked further donors to hold onto their items until the property is ready to display the equipment. Due to the generous donations from our members, and with their support, SHS made the decision to  prepare the property and build the pole barn as if we will be

OLD BOTTLE COLLECTION

SHS recently received an old bottle collection from one of our members. The bottles vary in size, shape, type and color.   While the bottles don’t hold a lot of value, they are ideal for displays.  If you have an interest in old bottles, and would like to look at them,  please call the museum office at 530-474-3291

Girl Scouts Visit SHS Musseum

In May 2018 Girl Scout Troop # 70059, visited the museums. they were accompanied by Leaders, Ina Dye and Tamera Fairfield. There were many questions asked and the displays were enjoyed by all. We are open Tuesdays and Saturdays 11am-3pm, June-September, if you cannot view the museums at the above date-times, please call to schedule a private tour for your family or organization. 530-474-3291            

MUSEUM SUMMER OPENING

The annual summer opening of the Museum will be on Saturday June 9th, 2018.  10am-4pm Come and see the new displays. Old bottle display Vintage Cameras A restored 1910 Boyle Dayton Gas Pump has been added to the Tool Museum. Updates to the Post Office and Minnie Aldridge’s article’s that  she submitted to the San Francisco Chronicle and Redding Searchlight in the early 1900’s. The Down Home String Band will be playing, There will be a Spinning Wheel in action, 

Bring Back the Best Steam Traction Engine

UPDATE: September 5, 2018 Recent communication with the Oakland Museum of California indicates the decision as to  the new owner of the Best Steam Traction engine , has been delayed until the end of September. UPDATE:  August 8, 2018 SHS is currently awaiting the decision by Oakland Museum of California as to who will be the new owner of the Best Steam Traction Engine.  The decision is expected this month.   SHS is working to bring the Best Steam Traction
