MUSEUM SUMMER OPENING

The annual summer opening of the Museum will be on Saturday June 9th, 2018.  10am-4pm Come and see the new displays. Old bottle display Vintage Cameras A restored 1910 Boyle Dayton Gas Pump has been added to the Tool Museum. Updates to the Post Office and Minnie Aldridge’s article’s that  she submitted to the San Francisco Chronicle and Redding Searchlight in the early 1900’s. The Down Home String Band will be playing, There will be a Spinning Wheel in action, 

Bring Back the Best Steam Traction Engine

SHS is working to bring the Best Steam Traction Engine back to Shingletown.  The engine worked in the logging industry from the late 1800’s to 1936 when it was retired.  In early 1970 it was sold to the Oakland Museum of California. The OMOC is looking for a new owner/custodian.  SHS is preparing a Proposal to submit to OMOC in order to fulfill our DREAM of having this mighty machine returned. There were nearly 100 guests at the 2017 Museum Summer Opening. Thank you to all of you who attended. SHS appreciates your support. The Old Timers Potluck/picnic will be Sunday July 9, 2017 at 2 pm. Will be held in the Museum picnic area. Please bring your favorite dish to share. The Museum hours are 11am-3pm, Tuesdays and Saturday’s. We still need people to attend the Museum on those days.
